SOS Feeding Therapy
SOS Feeding Therapy is a therapeautic technique to help children with pediatric feeding disorders thrive.
Your child doesn’t have to have a paediatric feeding disorder to make life difficult for you when it comes to feeding them. Sensory aversions to the feel, taste, texture, sound or smell of food can make it difficult and sometimes impossible for a child to eat like other kids and this will often compromise their health and development.
Maybe you’ve been told ‘it’s just a phase’. It can be, or it might not be. Trust your mother instinct and if you think there is something unusual about your child’s fussiness or that it is more extreme than other kids, then it’s time for an assessment to see what can be done.
How does SOS Feeding Therapy Work?
The S.O.S. Feeding Therapy approach integrates posture, sensory, motor, behavioral/learning, medical and nutritional factors to comprehensively evaluate and manage children with feeding or growth problems.
We’re here to help…
Parents and caregivers of children who only eat a limited amount of foods, or struggle with other eating problems, feel frustrated and bamboozled by their child’s strange relationship with food. There are so many inter connected reasons for why a child is difficult to feed, or will run a mile from something green. Our job is to find out for you what those reasons are and then help the child to overcome them.
Why Use Feeding Therapy
The SOS Approach focuses on increasing a child’s comfort level by exploring and learning about the different properties of food.
The program allows a child to interact with food in a playful and non-stressful way to lead them to eat more of a food, plus more variety. The program is a mix of guided steps led directly by the therapist and also teaching parents how to make it all work at home.
